Violence

Facts

Violence is never the answer

If you’re feeling angry, take a few deep breaths and calm down

Move away from the situation

It always pays to get the facts straight

Everyone is different, and sometimes disagreements will happen. It’s normal. But solving them with violence crosses the line and only makes things worse .

Sometimes when you’re having an argument it’s good to have someone, like a ref, who can see both sides and make a fair decision. Sometimes a person like that is called a mediator.

If you are at school a good mediator is a teacher

Violence at home is a big problem. If someone you love is being violent you should tell a grown up you trust. Like a family member, a teacher or a minister. But if the violence gets really bad you should call the police.

If you are playing sport remember that sometimes things can get pretty heated on the field or court, but it’s important to keep your cool. It can mean the difference between winning and losing.

Did you know

If one of your friends is having a fight.....The only way to really help is to try and break the fight up. That way no one gets hurt. So find a teacher and ask them for assistance.

This isn't being a tattle tale....it means that you care about the people in the fight and don’t want to see anyone get hurt.

If you want to be cool, keep your cool.

When you get angry you sometimes don’t think clearly. If you cool down first, you can get your facts straight so you don’t do something silly.
