Good friends have things in common – if you enjoy doing the same things as someone else then you’ve got a better chance of being friends.

When good friends work or play together, they share the good jobs and the not so good jobs.
Good friends share.

Friends look out for each other – if your friend’s being bullied you can help by standing up for your friend. It’s much harder for a bully to pick on more than one person at a time!

Friends have empathy with each other, which is like putting yourself in the other person shoes. How do you think Bryan would feel if Bobby was hurt or sad?
True friendship is unconditional! You don’t put conditions on your friendship and say “I’ll only be friends if you do this or do that”

The golden rules for being a great friend:
FRIENDS OFTEN HAVE THINGS IN COMMON

FRIENDS SHARE AND TAKE TURNS
FRIENDS LOOK OUT FOR ONE ANOTHER AND STICK UP FOR ONE ANOTHER
FRIENDS DON’T PUT CONDITIONS ON THEIR FRIENDSHIP

FRIENDS HAVE EMPATHY WITH EACH OTHER
FRIENDS STAY FRIENDS

Facts about friends:

Friends were very important to people in the ancient and medieval world. Because there were not so many police officers, lawyers or judges back then. People had to rely on their friends to protect them or help them get justice. People also relied on their friends for money or food if they became poor.

During the time of the Roman Empire, the emperor Cicero had his own beliefs on friendship. Cicero believed that in order to have a true friendship with someone else there must be honesty and truth. If there isn’t, then it isn’t a true friendship!

According to some people a friendship is:
- Spending time together
- Sharing ideas and treats
- Having Fun
- Respecting each other’s differences
- Loyalty and sticking up for one another
- Caring for each other’s safety and wellbeing
- Working to keep your friendship going
-Always being there when your friend needs you
