Respect

Respect is based on admiration and trust
Self respect is the most important kind of respect
Treat people how you would like to be treated.

Respecting yourself is knowing right from wrong, and not letting yourself be pushed around or intimidated into doing something you know is wrong.

Respecting yourself is taking care of your body and your mind. Eating right, exercising and getting enough sleep are all ways you can show respect for yourself

If you don’t have respect for yourself, it’s really hard to respect anyone else, and others won’t respect you.

Some weird and wacky facts about respect :

Human cultures have varied ways of showing respect by bodily actions. In many European cultures, people shake hands. In others, such as in Japan people bow at the waist when meeting.
When meeting royalty women in England curtsy, where men bow.

In many different cultures there are different ways of showing respect throughout the world:

In Turkey:
Kissing the back of an elders hands and raising it to your forehead for a brief touch shows respect, it can even be done to a mother or father.

Placing your right hand over your heart when making a statement or accepting thanks is a respect sign and can mean that of you believe what is being said to you or that you are sincere in what you have said

In Japan :
People bow to others, especially their elders as a signal of respect and humility.
In Japan it is extremely important to know the rank of people with whom you meet or come in contact with.
In Japan blowing your nose in public is considered rude. Handkerchiefs are used mainly for wiping mouths or drying your hands when leaving the bathroom. Paper tissues are used for blowing your nose and then they get thrown away.

In the Police, Fire Service, Army, Navy and Air Force:
Members of each show respect for their leaders by saluting them.

In just about ALL cultures EVERYBODY respects their elders

The golden rules for respect are :

Treat other people the way you want to be treated.
Be courteous and polite.
Listen to what other people have to say.
Don't insult people, or make fun of them, or call them names.
Don't bully or pick on others.
Don't judge people before you get to know them.
